People Rise Up Radio - 1917 Espionage Act: the war on journalists, activists, and whistleblowers

004-People Rise Up Radio Ep 04 05-28-13

On our fourth episode of People Rise Up Radio, which aired on May 28th, 2013, we discussed the historical and present day abuse of the 1917 Espionage Act. The law originally billed as a means to deal with spies working for foreign powers has instead been used to silence dissent since its passage. The number of activists, journalists, and whistleblowers that have been convicted and executed citing the Act vastly outnumber agents for foreign powers. The Obama administration has successfully used it more than all other administrations combined. We also aired our popular COINTEL-PRO based informational segment “How To Spot A Spy” – skill share for activists. Plus, Know Your Rights, the People’s History, and the rarely produced 420 Report.

People Rise Up Radio Episode 3 we discuss March Against Monsanto's "non-violence" statement

003 – People Rise Up Radio Episode 3 05-21-2013

In case you notice a running theme – on our third show we discussed police brutality, dirty banksters getting sweet deals from the government for stealing people’s homes, and Walmart and The Gap refusing to support worker safety as thousands die in Bangladesh making their shitty clothes.
We also take the ACLU to task for being almost entirely absent while protesters were being beat in the street, but was all up in arms defending the racist Tea Party against the IRS and discuss the whole bourgeois non-profit industrial complex.
We also discuss the hugely disturbing “Non-Violence” statement March Against Monsanto “organizers” issued just days before the marches were to occur. (What a fraud that group turned out to be.)
We also discuss the Obama administration’s War on Journalism as the FBI acting on orders by the DOJ seized AP phone records.
